Job Description

Reporting to the President of Capital I Industries Inc. and its sister company, Irving Machine Inc. (together, "Capital I"), the Controller is responsible for the accounting, financial reporting, internal controls and cash management of Capital I and overseeing its respective accounting personnel.

Regular travel to Capital I's office in Tisdale, Saskatchewan is required.



The Controller will provide accurate financial information to the leadership team of Capital I, its parent Company, Decisive Dividend Corporation, and applicable third parties. This is to include analysis, budgeting, forecasting and monthly financial reporting. The Controller also maintains and has a comprehensive understanding of the company's ERP, accounting systems and internal controls and implements changes as required. The Controller is also responsible for optimizing cash and working capital.

The Controller will be an advisor to the managers and supervisors of various departments of Capital I and is a key part of Capital I's leadership team.

Key Accountabilities



Overall responsibility for the accounting operations including cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial and statutory reporting. Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and annual operating results against budget. Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial information. Provide strategic analysis as required to drive improved decision making. Interact with other members of the leadership teams to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations. Assist in the development and implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems. Initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions through the timely and consistent collection of receivables. Overall responsibility for the ERP system, including optimization thereof, and assisting staff when problems encountered. Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory and company policies and procedures. Manage correspondence with the Canada Revenue Agency and provincial/state equivalents, including required reporting, remittances, and other requirements as they arise. Sets priorities and provides advice and guidance to accounting personnel on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis, and reporting. Hire, train and coach accounting personnel to promote growth, skill development, and accountability; providing coaching and feedback as required. Coordinate year-end audit activities. All other financial reporting to third parties as required (insurance, banks, Statistics Canada, etc.). Assigns and authorizes cheques, purchase orders and invoices and approves EFT transactions for payroll, expense claims and payments to vendors. Other related duties as required.

Education



Relevant diploma or bachelor's degree (e.g. accounting, commerce) Professional accounting designation (CPA)

Experience



Minimum 7-10 years of related experience Accomplished financial professional with experience managing and leading a team Construction or manufacturing experience is considered a valuable asset Proficient working in Microsoft software and accounting computer systems
