Musselman Excavating is currently seeking an experienced accountant to join our team as a Controller. The position reports directly to the owner and is available immediately.Salary: $100,000 - $130,000, dependent on experienceBenefits: Available to employees after probationary period, RRSP matching available after 1 yearResponsibilities:

• Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate standards and regulatory requirements as well as the requirements of private contributions, loans, and government contracts
• Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
• Establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a bi-weekly, monthly, and annual basis
• Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding all legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation
• Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow
• Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
• Manage all receivables and oversee billing

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in business, accounting or related field
• 5+ years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
• MUST have prior accounting experience with a construction company
• Working knowledge of Jonas accounting software is a strong asset
• Must be a critical thinker with a strong aptitude for analysis
• Job costing experience is preferred
• Keen attention to detail
• High level of confidentiality and professionalism
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment
