Job Description

Robert Half is the worldwide leader in specialized consulting and staffing services for senior-level accounting, finance, and business systems professionals.

Our client is currently seeking a Controller for a 5-month contract with possibility of permanency. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing financial reports, review of investments, and taxes while ensuring the integrity of financial data and systems, developing, and monitoring budgets and forecasts.

The role is hybrid, with 2-3 days work in office. This role can be located in Ottawa/Akwesasne/Cornwall.

The Controller duties will include:

\xc2\xb7 Overseeing the accounting operations and month end close activity

\xc2\xb7 Overseeing investments accounting transactions (bonds, mutual funds, stocks, real estate LPs, etc.) at amortized cost and fair value

\xc2\xb7 Accurate GL reporting, including subledger reconciliations

\xc2\xb7 Performing the analysis and review of operations

\xc2\xb7 Preparing the budgets and forecasts

\xc2\xb7 Provide analysis on working capital, debt coverage, and other KPI\'s

\xc2\xb7 Tax filing, reporting, and compliance (i.e., GST, HST)

\xc2\xb7 Review processes and identify opportunities for improvement

\xc2\xb7 Other duties as required

The ideal Controller will have the following skills and experience:

\xc2\xb7 A recognized accounting designation (CPA or ACCA) with a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience

\xc2\xb7 Experience preparing T3 and T1044 returns

\xc2\xb7 Experience reporting in accordance to ASNPO

\xc2\xb7 Superior oral and written communication skills

\xc2\xb7 Advanced level Microsoft Excel

\xc2\xb7 Strong analytical skills and understanding of business environment
