Join the Estx?wa?y?usem Finance Department in a leadership role dedicated to maintaining the financial integrity of the Squamish Nation Government. This position is vital to strengthening the effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability of our operations in support of Council's vision. You will play a crucial role in upholding financial stewardship that aligns with our values and supports the long-term prosperity and self-determination of our Uxwumixw.

What You'll Do


------------------

Direct the daily operations of the Accounting team, overseeing the full accounting cycle including general ledger, payables, receivables, payroll, and statutory reporting. Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Lead the financial audit process and coordinate with external auditors to ensure successful completion of the Nation's annual audit. Oversee treasury management functions, including cash flow optimization and investment strategies that support the Nation's financial goals. Manage the Nation's insurance portfolio, ensuring adequate coverage for assets and proper handling of claims. Develop and maintain documented financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard the Nation's assets and ensure financial integrity. Supervise the preparation of personal tax returns for Squamish Nation members and ensure compliance with all tax filing obligations. Mentor, coach, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the finance team.

What We're Looking For

Professional accounting designation (CPA) with extensive experience in financial management and reporting. Proven experience overseeing the full accounting cycle, including general ledger, payables, receivables, and payroll functions. Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements for government reporting. Experience managing external audits and working with auditors to ensure successful completion. Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience mentoring, coaching, and developing accounting staff. Excellent knowledge of internal controls, financial policies, and procedure development. Experience in treasury management, cash flow optimization, and insurance management. Salary:

$113,000 - $169,500


Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning to the midpoint of the range. We are committed to providing a fair and equitable package that reflects the value an individual brings to the organization.
