Robert Half seeks a Controller to become a part of a successful company and take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department. The Controller position is a permanent opportunity in the Fort Erie, Ontario region. Responsibilities include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. Your responsibilities

- Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective

- Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

- Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

- Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

- Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

- Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

- Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

- Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

- Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly

- Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

- Critical thinking skills and the ability to retain complex work directions

- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

- CPA or MBA preferred

- Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

- Excellent attention to detail

- Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

- Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
