The Controller, reporting into the Finance Director, is responsible for the financial management of their division through the administration of accounting systems, preparation of reports, and maintenance of accounting records. The Divisional Controller is a proactive individual that is the main support to the local General Manager and corporate accounting team.
  • Work closely with business unit partners to understand their operations and financial drivers, and challenge their assumptions
  • Recommend and participate in the implementation of process improvement measures where necessary
  • Supervise the monthly and annual financial statements
  • Control accuracy of inventory volume and costing
  • Provide analysis of regular operating costs monthly
  • Oversee the processes related to the divisional accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset management and intercompany transactions
  • Be able to provide a variety of ad-hoc financial reports, as requested
  • To supervise year-end audit and government filings, as required
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in accounting or related field.
  • CPA or CMA title, is an asset
  • 5+ years experience in a similar role
  • Experience in a manufacturing or retail environment, is an asset
  • Person having an analytical mind, a self-starter and an ability to function with minimal supervision.
  • Must be comfortable using computer systems and quickly become familiar with the software in use in the organization.
  • Strong managerial skills regarding the support, training, and motivation of staff
  • Fluently bilingual in French and English
