Position: Controller
Location: Saint-Bruno, hybrid
Salary: $120K to $140K per year
Our client a successful manufacturer is looking to hire a Controller to help them clean up and build up processes.
As a Controller, you will be responsible for the financial management, the administration of accounting systems, preparation of reports, and maintenance of accounting records. The Controller is a proactive individual that is the main support to the CFO and corporate accounting team. Your main challenge will be inventory control, build processes, setup controls, and clean up the books.
Your responsibilities (among others):
- Provide support to management in the accomplishment of all his responsibilities
- Recommend and participate in the implementation of improvement measures where necessary (this includes being a key participant in computer system trouble-shooting, improvements and conversions)
- Budget preparation and revision
- Review the monthly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules to be submitted to the corporate accounting team
- Control accuracy of inventory volume and costing
- Oversee the processes related to the divisional accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset management and intercompany transactions
- Provide meaningful analysis of both direct and indirect costs to management
- Provide analysis of regular operating costs on a monthly basis
- Provide a variety of ad-hoc financial reports, as requested.
- Advise support staff on general accounting and financial reporting systems, policies, procedures and requirements
- Supervise government filings as required
- Supervise year-end audit
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage administrative personnel
- Provide direction and training to new and existing employees
- Ensure a positive work environment and awareness by staff of company policies, procedures, goals and objectives
Qualification Criteria:
- Degree in accounting such as a CA, CGA or CMA and a minimum of five years\' experience in a similar role; experience in a manufacturing/Distribution environment would be an asset
- Analytical mind, be a self-starter and have the ability to function with minimal supervision
- Hands-on approach, autonomy, diplomacy, tenacity, rigor, and flexibility
- Comfortable using computer systems
- Strong managerial skills regarding the support, training and motivation of support staff
- Fluently bilingual in French and English
