Our client is a well-established, values-driven organization with multiple operating units and deep community roots located on Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick. They are seeking a Controller to lead the financial, administrative, and compliance functions of the business and to serve as a trusted partner to senior leadership.
This hands-on Controller role provides leadership across accounting, reporting, compliance, and systems, supporting operational excellence and strategic decision-making. Based on the picturesque Grand Manan Island, this opportunity offers senior-level impact alongside an exceptional work/life balance in a close-knit coastal community.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Lead monthly close, financial statements, P&L analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and product costing
• Manage cash flow, liquidity, financial risk, and provide actionable insights to support strategic and operational decisions
• Oversee accounting operations including AR, AP, payroll, invoicing, tax compliance, and maintenance of the general ledger and internal controls
• Coordinate external auditors, tax advisors, licensing, regulatory filings, export documentation, insurance, and risk management
• Lead procurement and vendor management, oversee IT systems and external technology partners, and manage core administrative functions
• Select, implement, and optimize accounting and ERP systems to improve reporting, data accuracy, efficiency, and support change management across the organization

Experience & Attributes for Success:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation is strongly preferred)
• Minimum 5+ years in a senior accounting or Controller-level role, ideally in a manufacturing or food processing environment
• Proven experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Strong proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, and Excel; experience with system implementation is a plus
• Hands-on knowledge of GAAP, payroll, tax compliance, and internal controls
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
• Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and ability to work collaboratively across teams and business units
