operating in a multi-entity environment. To support our expansion, we are seeking a highly skilled
Controller / Finance Manager
to oversee accounting operations, strengthen financial processes, and provide strategic analysis to guide decision-making.
Position Summary
The Controller / Finance Manager will oversee all accounting and finance operations for 15+ entities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and timely consolidation. This position requires a leader who can evaluate and improve processes, build and document standardized procedures, and develop a strong accounting team.
Beyond core accounting responsibilities, the role will include financial planning, ROI analysis of future initiatives, and regular collaboration with store managers, Territory Managers, and senior leadership. This position does not currently include wholesale operations.
Manage the accounting cycle for multiple entities, including intercompany transactions and consolidations.
Oversee month-end and year-end close, ensuring accuracy and adherence to reporting deadlines.
Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, and ensure compliance with Canadian GAAP and applicable tax regulations (GST/PST, corporate tax).
Maintain appropriate internal controls and documentation.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and rolling cash flow projections.
Conduct ROI and scenario analysis for new initiatives and capital investments.
Analyze budget vs. actuals, highlighting variances and recommending corrective actions.
Provide monthly financial performance reviews to store managers, Territory Managers, and leadership.
Process Improvement & Documentation
Evaluate and refine accounting processes for efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.
Standardize intercompany reconciliation procedures.
Document all processes and standard operating procedures in
Trainual
to ensure clarity and continuity.
Implement systems and reporting improvements using technology solutions.
Team Leadership & Development
Supervise and mentor the Accounting Manager and accounting staff (AP/AR).
Foster a culture of accountability, professional development, and continuous improvement.
Develop and enforce accounting policies and ensure team adherence.
Support hiring and training of staff to build a resilient, capable department.
Strategic Partnering
Work closely with the COO and senior leadership to provide actionable financial insights.
Engage regularly with operational leaders (store managers, Territory Managers, Director of Operations) to enforce financial discipline.
Support the preparation of presentations and reports for shareholders.
Qualifications
CPA designation.
7-10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including multi-entity environments.
Strong technical knowledge of Canadian GAAP and corporate taxation.
Demonstrated success in financial forecasting, budgeting, and ROI analysis.
Experience leading teams and building accounting functions in a complex organization.
Proficiency with ERP systems;
NetSuite experience highly valued
