Position Overview



The Controller is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial data, and maintaining compliance with ASPE standards. This is a hands-on role responsible for full-cycle accounting, payroll, management of the Point of Rental (POR) system, and POR-related reporting. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong initiative, able to work independently while driving results and improvements in financial processes.

Key Responsibilities



Financial Accounting & Reporting



Perform full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE. Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure proper coding of transactions. Reconcile all balance sheet accounts on a regular basis. Process and record all adjusting journal entries as needed. Oversight and management of bookkeeping resources

Payroll Administration



Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with all federal and provincial regulations. Maintain payroll records and prepare T4s, ROEs, and other statutory filings. Point of Rental (POR) System Management & Reporting Oversee and manage the POR system, ensuring accurate sales data integration with accounting records. Prepare regular POR sales, margin, and trend reports for management review. Troubleshoot and resolve POR-related issues.

Compliance & Controls



Ensure timely remittance of HST/GST, payroll source deductions, and other statutory filings. Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data accuracy. Coordinate with external accountants and auditors during year-end reviews.

Cash Flow & Payments



Monitor cash balances and ensure timely payment of suppliers. Manage expense reimbursements and employee expense approvals.

Skills & Qualifications



Minimum 2-3 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong knowledge of ASPE accounting standards. Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel. Proven experience with full-cycle accounting, payroll administration, and POR like systems. Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, with a high level of initiative and drive. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Preference given to CPA designates or CPA candidates.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Bedford, NS B4A 2X9
