The company Boost CPA is a new and growing online accounting firm providing outsourced accounting department, CFO Advisory, and business tax services, and we are seeking a part-time Controller/Accounting Manager to grow with us and build our practice around. Most of our clients have only ever dealt with a CPA for filing corporate taxes, and while we do perform these filings, we mainly want to demonstrate the value CPAs can bring to companies from working in an \xe2\x80\x9cin-house\xe2\x80\x9d capacity. We believe that quality Controllership oversight of the bookkeeping is crucial to deliver the financial analysis and advisory services that we offer and that our clients rely on, and that is where you come in! A little over a year ago, we started building our vision of an accounting firm with a real emphasis on the LIFE portion of \xe2\x80\x9cwork-life balance\xe2\x80\x9d, and we want to find the professional, reliable, and relatable folks that are seeking the same. We offer agency to our staff, in that new work doesn\xe2\x80\x99t just land on your desk with an impossible deadline and no consultation. Potential new engagements are discussed with the team, including resource estimates, so everyone can make an informed decision about increasing their hours if the engagement is landed. We work with a small group of diverse businesses that we know well and interact with regularly, that we care to see succeed in their business, and that rely on us for business and financial advice. We are based on beautiful Vancouver Island and have clients around BC. Because of time zone considerations for our clients, we hope to hire from BC or the western provinces/territories but are open to candidates from around this wonderful country of ours. The Role This remote position will focus initially on performing typical Controller-level duties for a small group of clients. This includes performing tasks such as high-level review of BK entries, bank/CC/AP/AR/loan reconciliations, payroll review, payroll & sales tax filings, troubleshooting integration issues with QBO, review and analysis of financial statements, assistance with creating mgmt. reports, etc. All the while, coordinating with our awesome bookkeeper and the firm owner to deliver client services as a cohesive team. There is potential for taking on a variety of other responsibilities in the future as well, such as on your own CFO advisory engagements, assistance with IFRS-related projects, or performing T2 or T1 tax returns in the future, if the candidate has the desire & experience to do so. This position would suit someone with previous experience in a similar role, and who has a proven ability to use cloud-based software efficiently. With our clients, we mainly use Quickbooks Online, Dext, Plooto, Google Workspace, and Toggl for our time, but you may also find yourself using Xero, Float, Hubdoc, or a variety of other platforms as well. Experience in these ones, or with other integrations and optimizations into QBO is an asset. We are always looking for better tools to use for our clients, and ways to get more out of existing platforms. Smarter not harder, as they say. • Hourly wage range and weekly hours starting at: $45 \xe2\x80\x93 $50 per hour, 15 hours/week guaranteed.

• Has a keen interest in entrepreneurship and small- medium-sized businesses \xe2\x80\x93 we\xe2\x80\x99re a small business ourselves, after all!
• Is a CPA with experience in a similar role and in a multi-client environment. Solid understanding of ASPE, and relevant tax considerations for small-medium businesses
• Is organized, diligent, and unafraid of a challenge \xe2\x80\x93 but also not afraid to ask for help when needed.
• Is reasonably tech savvy and interested in ongoing learning. We always want to hear new ideas for how to do things better!
• Is great at managing their own time and client expectations, while still mostly completing their work during "normal" working hours M-F for client responsiveness & alignment.
• Is excited about the opportunity to work with clients in a variety of industries \xe2\x80\x93 hospitality, construction, renewable energy, forestry, managed services providers, etc., and to have input on future engagements.
