Our client, a Canadian-owned, real estate development firm, is seeking a Controller to join their finance team.

This role will be a site-based role at one of their premier resort properties located in Chilliwack, BC.

The Controller will report directly to the SVP of Finance in the Vancouver head office.

Short-Term Scope:

• Manage the day-to-day operational accounting for all the resort\'s business units to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the accounts.
• Work closely with the SMT to learn how the various revenue streams are captured, recorded and reported. Develop a solid understanding of the timing and nature of various operational expenses in each of the business units.
• Work closely with operational managers to reconcile and report daily sales activities.
• Manage the monthly financial close process to ensure that reporting packages are delivered to the parent company in accordance with corporate policies.
• Present financial results and respond to queries from SMT.
• Work with SMT to prepare operational budgets and cash flow forecasts, financial statements, and management reports.
• Perform treasury, cash management functions as required to meet the ongoing needs of the business.
• Understand existing internal controls processes, follow best practices, strengthen in areas that are needed.
• Provide direction and support to junior accountants and the payables team.

Medium-Term Scope:

• Function independently with minimal oversight and assistance.
• Play a key role in the planned reorganization of business units into separate entities to help mitigate business risk.
• Develop financial model for new structure, work with finance and SMT to develop required agreements, contracts and systems.
• Assist the client\'s development and construction team as they move through the pre-development, development, and construction phases of Beach Camp.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of progressive industry experience.
• Public practice experience.
• Hospitality industry (nice to have).
