Contractually Limited Assistant Professor in Chemical Education

Position Description:
The Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology at McMaster University is seeking candidates to fill a one-year contractually limited, teaching-focused faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Chemical Education. The preferred start date for the appointment is August 1, 2023.
The successful candidate must have a PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Biology at the time of appointment and should have a demonstrated a record of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level. Duties include teaching a range of courses, including general (first year) chemistry, chemical biology laboratory and other courses (possibly in Polymer Chemistry), as well as administrative service. Participation in curriculum development and/or undergraduate laboratory supervision may also be required. There is no expectation that the candidate will develop an independent laboratory research program, but interest in pedagogical research and student supervision is encouraged.

a statement of teaching philosophy and evidence of teaching effectiveness

the names and full contact information of at least three referees. Letters of reference are not required and will not be reviewed at the application stage; the Department will request letters of recommendation from referees at later stages of the search process.

Vaccination Policy Statement:

The University will continue to follow the guidance of public health organizations to define fully vaccinated status.
