Business Support Network Facilitator (Contract)

Contract rate:

$1,000/month

Estimated hours:

~20-30 hours/month (approx. 6-8 hours/week)

Term:

2-year contract

(January 2026 - December 2027), renewal dependent on funding and performance

Start date:

January 2026

Location:

Community-based / hybrid (in-person meetings + remote admin); local travel as needed

Must have $2,000,000 liability insurance, Town of Hinton Business Licence and WCB Account or exemption letter.

Position Summary



The Business Support Network Facilitator coordinates and grows a local network of employers, entrepreneurs, and partner organizations. This role focuses on employer engagement, marketing/promotion, and planning/facilitating practical, well-run meetings and events that connect businesses to supports and to each other.

Key Responsibilities



Marketing & Promotion



- Promote network meetings and activities via email, social media, community calendars, posters, and partner channels.

- Create simple monthly content (invites, reminders, recaps, "save the date" posts).

- Maintain and grow a contact list/distribution list; manage RSVPs/registrations.

Employer Engagement & Relationship-Building



- Recruit and maintain relationships with employers, business owners, and community partners.

- Conduct outreach (calls, emails, site visits) to identify business needs and priorities.

- Encourage participation, gather feedback, and connect businesses to relevant supports/resources.

Meeting & Event Coordination



- Plan and deliver monthly network sessions

- Prepare agendas and meeting materials; facilitate discussions to ensure inclusive participation and clear outcomes.

- Book speakers/presenters and coordinate topics based on employer needs.

Steering Committee Support



- Attend one steering committee meeting per month.

- Prepare brief updates for the committee (activities, engagement, upcoming plans).

- Action steering committee direction into the monthly workplan.

Logistics & Administration



- Book venues and confirm room setup/AV/accessibility.

- Organize refreshments (snacks/coffee) and ensure dietary needs are considered.

- Manage sign-in sheets, notes, follow-ups, and action items.

- Track basic expenses (as approved) and submit invoices.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement



- Provide a short monthly summary: activities delivered, attendance, key themes/needs, and next steps.

- Use feedback to improve attendance, relevance, and meeting quality.

Expected Deliverables (Monthly)



- 1 facilitated network meeting/event (or equivalent engagement activity)

- Agenda circulated in advance + brief notes/action items afterward

- Speaker(s) booked/confirmed as needed

- Promotion package (email + social posts) for each event

- Attendance at 1 steering committee meeting + brief written update

- Monthly activity summary (1-2 pages or email format)

Job Type: Fixed term contract
