NAIT's Department of Continuing Education is seeking Contract ESL Instructors to teach in-person, on campus ESL courses with the possibility of Hyflex courses, during the 15-week Fall Term, September to December 2025 and/or Winter Term January to April 2026. Please indicate in your Cover Letter the term(s) you are interested in applying for: Fall 2025, Winter 2026 or both.



NAIT ESL is seeking instructors who are passionate about helping English language learners reach their goals. As an ESL instructor, you must have the desire to work with students to achieve their goals and maintain positive and professional interactions with both students and colleagues. We are looking for creative, solutions-oriented instructors who can competently navigate on-campus and/or Hyflex delivery and collaborate with colleagues to effectively deliver language instruction.




For the 2025 Fall term, ESL courses are delivered primarily through face-to-face classes. These in-person classes will be offered on campus between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. In-person Contract Instructors must be proficient in planning and delivering engaging classroom learning experiences and should feel comfortable using Brightspace and other relevant technology, as some courses may occasionally be delivered in Hyflex format.

Contract Instruction Deliverables:



Teach NAIT ESL Program core courses during the Fall term (September to December 2025) or Winter Term (Winter Term January to April 2026) using face-to-face or Hyflex delivery. Instruct and assess students following Outcomes Based Educational (OBE) approach in the following areas: Grammar & Writing, Reading & Vocabulary, Listening & Speaking. Use and deliver program lessons and activities that directly support the course Learning Outcomes. Evaluate and assess student learning and performance in relation to the NAIT ESL OBE Curriculum. Ensure content delivery meets NAIT/Continuing Education/ESL best practices. Apply classroom management strategies to maintain an effective online and / or in-person learning environment for students. Work independently and with others to ensure quality and consistent course delivery within NAIT ESL core courses.



Skills and Abilities:

Ability to deliver and modify course content to meet varying student learning needs. Solutions-oriented. Proven expertise in the fields of Outcomes Based Education, adult second language learning principles, student assessment, and content and activity development for in-person and Hyflex course delivery. Hyflex Instruction: proficiency in online course delivery platforms including Brightspace, Microsoft Teams for online delivery. Cultural sensitivity. Enthusiasm for teaching. Theoretical and practical knowledge of adult second language learning.

Qualifications:



Minimum Bachelor's Degree and TESL qualifications mandatory; a related Master's Degree would be an asset.
+ Please note that TESL qualifications MUST be from one of the recognized TESL Canada Teacher Training Programs that are included in the list found on the TESL Canada website: https://www.tesl.ca/training/tesl-canada-recognized-teacher-training-programs/recognized-teacher-training-directory.html Previous experience teaching adult ESL students.


Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
