Reporting to the Team Lead, Health & Safety, Major Projects, the H&S Advisor will provide subject matter expertise and ensure the consistent application of policies, standards, and procedures at the field level. The H&S Advisor serves as a role model, advancing the H&S strategy while providing expertise and direction to the business. Building and maintaining strong, team-focused relationships is critical to the success of this position.
Responsibilities
Provide direct support to Cenovus execution teams regarding the interpretation of applicable OHS legislation, industry standards and practices, Cenovus H&S program components, and worker training requirements.
Speak with authority and coach on CVE programs, processes, and standards.
Assist in the implementation of the Cenovus strategy and ensure goal alignment with organizational priorities.
Participate in the review of project-specific safety documents and associated contractor performance meetings.
Ensure H&S planning aligns with the Cenovus business strategy and growth plans.
Coach, influence, motivate, and empower others (internally and externally) with respect to H&S ownership.
Communicate relevant and timely H&S information to appropriate stakeholders.
Steward safe performance under the Cenovus Operational Integrity Management System (COIMS) and related H&S requirements.
Assist in building and sustaining an H&S capability platform tailored to field operations needs.
Collaborate within the organization to share best practices, lessons learned, and improve knowledge management.
Stay abreast of emerging H&S issues and legislation. Keep assets updated with relevant requirements and assist with compliance.
Qualifications
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, ideally in Major Projects functions, specializing in H&S.
OHS education such as NCSO, CRSP, or CRST.
Strong technical knowledge of Health & Safety management systems.
Ability to make decisions under tight timelines and multiple pressures.
Strong problem-solving skills and a drive to seek understanding and find appropriate solutions.
Work Schedule
Rotation: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
Hours: 12-hour days
Contract
1-year term with the possibility of extension
Pay Rate
Day Rate: $785 - $925
