A Day in the Life

The Contract Analyst is primarily responsible for the contract and pricing administration of assigned accounts, and to support the review, analysis and negotiation of terms and conditions, collaborating as needed.

MAIN JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

(may include the following and other duties may be assigned):


Administers, extends, negotiates and terminates standard and nonstandard contracts. Conducts proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications. Examines estimates of material, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepares bids, processes specifications, progress, and other reports; advises management of contractual rights and obligations; compiles and analyzes data and maintains historical information. Responsible for reporting complaints and Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR) Offers and Contracts
o Draft and coordinate offers, contracts, amendments, extensions, and related correspondence working closely with internal and external customers and stakeholders as needed, in accordance with Medtronic terms and conditions, processes, and appropriate laws and regulations.
o Timely, comprehensive communication of contract obligations to internal stakeholders and coordination of assigned contract obligations and compliance support.


o Prepare, organize and maintain contract records and files.


o Provide backup to the department as needed.


Terms and Conditions and Negotiations
o Review contract requirements, special provisions, and terms and conditions for compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, corporate and Medtronic of Canada policies and business specific procedures, supported by internal resources as needed.


o Investigate alternative language where terms and conditions are not in accordance with Medtronic positions, supported by internal resources as needed.


o Communicate T&C negotiations with customers supported by internal resources as needed.


o Provide support for complex negotiations as directed.


Pricing and Reporting
o Input Pricing following Medtronic processes and guidelines and maintain required records.


o Provide Contract and Pricing reporting and analysis.


o Support Loadsheet/Item Master information requests and Pricing Hierarchy updates.


o Support the resolution of pricing validations and other contract related inquiries.


Strategy and Communications Support
o Build strong relationships with internal and external customers through the provision of outstanding service and support.


o Provide backup support to the Tender Specialists as needed.


o Support special Contracts projects as directed.


Process Improvement
o Participate in the ongoing development of, and improvements to, standard processes and procedures in the department and rapidly adopt new processes and systems.


o Support other duties and special projects as assigned.

Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering and overseeing the projects - from design to implementation - while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



High School Diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant experience in Contracts or Pricing or equivalent experience (OR Associate's Degree with 2+ years experience OR Bachelor's Degree with 1+ year(s) experience).


DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION



Knowledge of Medtronic product portfolio Knowledge of key Canada and/or Provincial procurement guidelines and/or processes Knowledge of Hospital procurement organizations and affiliations Knowledge of medical terminology

JOB EXPERIENCE



Previous work experience in the medical device industry Experience with contract and/or pricing administration

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES



Experience with SAP or another ERP system Bilingual (English/French)
