Position Summary:

Reporting to the Supervisor Contract Administration, this position provides contract administration and management support for ATCO Electric, ensuring contracts are fit for purpose, are handled in compliance with term/conditions, policies, procedures, legislation and in a safe manner to completion.

What you get to do:

  • Work collaboratively with ATCO Electric and Key Stakeholders as the need arises developing contracting strategies based on market conditions, scope of work and other risk factors
  • Review and Interpret Contract terms and conditions for ATCO Electric
  • Exercise professional judgement to supervise and control contractor activities to ensure compliance to terms and conditions, policies, procedures, regulatory and applicable legislation
  • Perform Contract Administration from planning and MSA Work Release tenders to execution, performance management, closure and feedback. Ensuring that ATCO Electric risk and cost are minimized
  • Prepare Contract Summaries for Goods, Services and Material Contracts, identifying key responsibilities, timing, outcomes and risks
  • Develop and recommend appropriate changes to contracts ensuring compliance to contractual requirements
  • Process invoices and prepare accruals for ongoing work
  • Track and coordinate bonds/letters of credits in accordance with the Contract
  • Participate or lead in a broad range of negotiations including pricing, issues, notices, claims, or disputes in collaboration
  • Participate and/or lead contractor performance and post-completions reviews. Ensure any takeaways are captured and applied to future contracts
  • Maintain accurate documentation/ record keeping to support contractual and audit requirements.
  • Provide input and prepare Supply Chain forms, processes, guidelines that meet corporate policies and internal audit requirements and related training to functional groups
Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, Law, Contract Management or other related field
  • Post-secondary courses in Contract Management/Contract Law will be given preference
  • Certified Construction Contract Administration (CCCA) is considered an asset
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation is an asset.
  • 3 years of proven experience in the preparation and administration of contracts. Related experience may be considered.
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with tendering law and process, contractual law, contract development, execution and monitoring, and terms and conditions.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate contracts.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including SharePoint, and Oracle is preferred.
  • Knowledge of specific Acts, Regulations, and Codes related to contracts and construction such as OH&S, Employment Standards, etc. would be an asset.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Great teammate with demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of management within and outside the organization thoughtfully and with ease.
  • Possibility of travel to project site locations within Alberta which may require overnight stays and travel by airplane at times.
