NAIT's Mechanical Engineering Technology program, in the School of Manufacturing and Automation is recruiting for continuous instructors to join their team at the main Edmonton campus. The candidate for this position should be an enthusiastic leader of students, have well developed communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, be committed to student motivation and achievement, be able to work independently within established policies, and work cooperatively as a team member.




Key Responsibilities:




Manage instructional delivery and the classroom; set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment. Prepare and present online or face-to-face classroom/lab instruction while utilizing appropriate instructional strategies to maximize student motivation and learning in a skill-building environment. Collaborate in designing, developing, selecting and revising course curriculum, assessments and materials on a continuous basis, using the Institute prescribed process. Evaluate the learning process: Ensure learning is evaluated in a reliable and timely manner, providing appropriate and timely feedback to students; Submit marks/records promptly. Provide on-going coaching or referral for students who are experiencing difficulties to maximize student success and retention. Use the institute-approved process to regularly solicit feedback on instruction from students and use the results to improve instructional delivery. In accordance with a designated framework, utilize appropriate educational technology for communications, presentations, and program promotion. Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues and industry partners. Other duties as assigned.




Skills & Abilities:




Ideally, the successful candidates should have experience in some or all of the following areas: Technical Sketching, 2D Orthographic Multiview Drafting and 3D Solid Modeling; Strength of Materials (Stress Analysis); Fuild Mechanics; Production Capacity Planning; Machine Design (Materials Handling Systems); Facilities Engineering and Management.



Qualifications:




An undergraduate Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years recent, relevant industry experience. A diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology with a minimum of 5 years recent, relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Eligibility for registration with APEGA or ASET. Experience in delivery of outcome based adult education is desirable. A working knowledge of MS Office software. A working knowledge of AutoCAD, Inventor, and ISO9000 Quality Management System would be an asset. A working knowledge of Pipe-Flo Fuild Mechanics Simulation software would be an asset.




Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).




Remuneration

: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.


Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification - Instructor).




This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
