NAIT's Digital Design program is looking for a highly experienced, dynamic, energetic instructor who has the passion for sharing their expertise and experiences to join their team. The Web Design area of Digital Design teaches students the most current web design techniques and best practices for web development and search engine optimization. This area of emphasis arms students with the design, business and technical skills they will need to build customized web solutions for organizations and individuals. The Web Design area prepares students for jobs as web designers, web developers, SEO strategists, UX/UI designers, and content strategists. The successful candidate should be student-centered, have strong organizational skills and be committed to student success, with excellent communication skills in both written and oral English. Strong analytical, problem solving, critical-thinking and decision-making skills are required.

Key Responsibilities:



Prepare and present courses in both classroom and lab settings. Organize and supervise practical assignments. Conduct student evaluations and maintain progress records. Seek regular feedback from students and staff on instructional effectiveness and relevance. Participate in course review, program review and curriculum development. Maintain contact with relevant industries. Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students and colleagues. Develop and revise course material and curriculum on an ongoing basis to ensure relevancy to industry standards and to maximize student success.



Skills & Abilities:




Strong knowledge of fundamental and structured HTML along with best practices. Knowledge of modern CSS (flexbox and grid layout, preprocessors like Sass or LESS). Experience with vanilla JavaScript and DOM manipulation. A strong understanding of the importance of accessibility and the WCAG guidelines for digital products Strong experience with Search Engine Optimization. Awareness of information architecture and content strategies. Familiar with performance optimization techniques and tools. Proficient in using Git for version control. Willingness to keep up with the latest trends and tech in the industry. Familiarity with content management systems and web frameworks. Strong knowledge of user experience and user interface design methodologies. An understanding of graphic design fundamentals.



Qualifications:




Degree or Diploma in a media-related program along with 5 years of related industry experience is required

a Master's Degree is preferred Previous teaching experience would be an asset Equivalencies may be considered



Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).




Remuneration

: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification - Instructor).




This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
