Position Summary
Based out of our manufacturing site in Brampton, Ontario, the Continuous Improvement Engineer supports Savaria's manufacturing operations by analyzing processes, driving improvement initiatives, and optimizing production flow, safety, quality, and overall efficiency.
Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams--including Production, Quality, Engineering, R&D, and QHS--the role delivers measurable improvements in productivity, ergonomics, and operational performance across assembly, fabrication, machining, and welding areas.
Responsibilities
Lead continuous improvement (CI) initiatives across multiple product lines
Facilitate Kaizen events focused on waste elimination, flow improvement, takt alignment, and standardization
Conduct process observations, identify bottlenecks, and recommend data-driven solutions
Implement Lean tools: 5S, SMED, VSM, root cause analysis, standard work, PFMEA updates
Develop visual controls, best-practice documents, and improvement action plans
Track results using KPIs such as cycle time, throughput, scrap, rework, ergonomic risks, and process reliability
Perform time studies, takt/cycle-time analysis, and workflow assessments
Support line balancing, capacity modeling, and material flow optimization
Recommend workstation and layout improvements using engineering and Lean principles
Assist in developing and updating engineered labor standards
Collaborate with Engineering on manufacturability improvements, fixtures, tooling, and layout revisions
Analyze production and quality data to identify improvement opportunities
Participate in risk assessments, ergonomic reviews, and hazard identification activities
Recommend engineering controls to reduce ergonomic risks and enhance workstation safety
Support corrective actions from inspections, incidents, and ergonomic assessments
Ensure all CI and IE changes comply with Savaria's safety standards and applicable regulations
Work closely with supervisors, operators, and Quality/Engineering teams to validate and implement improvements
Support Quality teams with NCRs, SCARs, defect analysis, and error-proofing initiatives
Collaborate with Material Planning and Distribution on flow improvements, kitting, staging, and point-of-use storage
Communicate project progress, roadblocks, and results effectively to stakeholders
Develop and maintain SOPs, standard work, work instructions, and visual aids
Create process maps, spaghetti diagrams, and workflow visuals
Ensure documentation complies with FDA, Health Canada, Savaria QMS, and safety requirements

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
3-5 years of experience in a discrete and complex manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and industrial engineering methods
Experience with time studies, workflow analysis, and layout optimization
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret KPIs and apply improvement logic
High level of ownership, follow-through, and accountability
Practical thinker who blends engineering theory with hands-on problem solving
Thrives in a role that combines analysis with on-the-floor implementation
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Computer skills
Power BI (required) for KPI analysis and reporting
Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Ability to use Visio (or equivalent) for process mapping
Experience with AutoCAD (or equivalent) for layout updates
Experience with ERP systems (D365, SAP, or similar)
