The
Medical Office Assistant (
MOA
) Instructor
will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students, equipping them with the essential knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed for success in the healthcare administrative field. This role includes implementing lesson plans that combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on learning, supporting students as they develop proficiency in medical office procedures, and preparing them for a successful practicum experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical office administration, practical teaching experience, and a commitment to fostering student success in both theoretical and applied learning environments.
Functions and Duties
Instruction:
Deliver engaging, comprehensive instruction covering essential medical office assistant practices, including medical terminology, office procedures, computerized medical billing, electronic medical records, communication, and workplace skills needed in healthcare administration.
Lesson Planning:
Implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and learning objectives. Develop, update, and adapt instructional materials to meet student needs and evolving industry requirements.
Practical Training:
Guide and support students in applying medical office concepts and technical skills in preparation for their practicums.
Student Assessment:
Conduct evaluations, provide constructive feedback, input student assessments in a timely manner, and support student progress throughout the program.
Professional Standards:
Ensure a respectful, organized, and professional learning environment that meets institutional and industry expectations.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and other instructors to ensure cohesive program delivery. Foster open communication to support student success and maintain alignment with institutional goals.
Education and Experience
Diploma or certificate in Medical Office Assistant or a related healthcare administrative field is required; a combination of education and relevant industry experience may be considered.
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a medical office, clinical administration, or related healthcare setting.
Previous teaching or instructional experience in post-secondary, vocational training, or a similar setting.
Current knowledge of medical office procedures, electronic medical records (EMR), and computerized billing systems.
Proficiency in digital tools, including Microsoft Office applications and online Learning Management Systems is preferred.
Experience teaching in an online environment is an asset.
Skills and Abilities
Strong practical skills in medical office administration, billing, and patient communication.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire adult learners.
Proficiency in lesson planning, classroom management, and adapting teaching methods to diverse learning styles.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure effective program delivery and student success.
