Salary Information:
Range between $29.75 to $30.10 per hour, which includes a shift differential of 4.5-8.4% for any hours worked between 5pm and 6am on Weekdays and 15% for any hours worked on the Weekend.

Job Summary

As stewards of the campus, Facilities Management fosters and enriches an inviting and functional environment that welcomes and supports all who come here. Facilities Management customers include, but are not limited to, faculty, staff, students and campus visitors. The department\'s branches work together as a team to deliver a high standard of customer service and to ensure the effective, efficient and safe performance of the operation, development and maintenance of campus buildings.

Reporting to the Associate Manager and Manager of Custodial Services, the Supervisor of Custodial Services demonstrates a high level of professionalism to supervise and coordinate the custodial work of approximately 20-50 Service Workers (SWCS), whose duties include the cleaning and maintaining of all surfaces in various area types such as offices, classrooms, labs, and common areas at UVic, moving furniture and equipment, replenishing supplies, clearing and collecting waste and recycling for proper disposal. The Supervisor maintains equipment, tools and supplies, keeps records, and completes other related duties. The Supervisor maintains a high standard of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety which serves to enhance the customer service experience of faculty, staff and students.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to work any recognized shift, including weekends, and attend meetings or training that may occur outside of regular shift hours.
  • Good physical health required for constant mobility, bending, lifting and reaching.
  • Neat and clean appearance.
Specialized Knowledge/Education:
  • Valid BC driver\'s license
  • Certification in a commercial cleaning program or equivalent level of experience.
  • Supervisory experience or an equivalent level of education.
  • Operational knowledge of computers and computer software including MS Office Suite software, Adobe Software.
  • Expertise in operation and demonstration of commercial cleaning equipment and tools
  • Knowledge and understanding of the chemistry of cleaning including knowledge of materials, methods and equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of environmentally responsible cleaning techniques.
  • Knowledge of university Enterprise software (e.g. FMIS) is an asset.
Experience:
  • A minimum of five years\' commercial cleaning experience.
  • A minimum of three years supervising a staff of 30 or more people, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • A minimum of five years handling customer service interactions.
