GENERAL SUMMARY




BGC Ottawa is seeking a creative and motivated Content & Storytelling Intern to support the Advancement Team in sharing the Club's impact with donors, partners and the community. This internship offers hands-on experience in content creation, digital storytelling and nonprofit communications. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications, the intern will work collaboratively with the Advancement Team and Clubhouse staff to help bring BGC Ottawa's mission, programs and people to life through compelling stories and digital content.



RESPONSIBILITIES / ACTIVITIES



Major Responsibility 1: Content creation and storytelling


Support the development and execution of a content calendar for BGC Ottawa's digital platforms. Create original content (written, photo and video) for the website, social media channels, newsletters, donor communications and marketing materials. Capture compelling stories from BGC Ottawa programs and daily Clubhouse life that highlight Members, staff, volunteers and community impact. Assist with content creation for fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship initiatives and special events. Support social media campaigns tied to marquee events and campaigns, ensuring sponsor recognition requirements are met. Organize and maintain shared content libraries, including photos, videos and written assets.

Major Responsibility 2: Advancement and stewardship support (content-related)


Assist with donor stewardship communications, including drafting thank-you messages, welcome materials and impact updates. Support storytelling elements for donor and sponsor communications, such as short profiles, event recaps and impact highlights. Help document events, sponsor activations and campaigns through photos, videos and written summaries.

Other


Monitor basic website and social media performance metrics and assist with reporting. Other duties related to marketing, communications and storytelling as assigned by the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications.

Ideal candidate


Enrolled in or recently graduated from a communications, marketing, journalism, media, nonprofit management or related program. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a focus on storytelling. Comfortable creating content for a variety of digital platforms. Interest in photography, videography or basic design tools is an asset. Passion for community impact and working with children and youth. Strong attention to detail, highly organized and eager to learn. Multilingualism is an asset (French, Arabic, Somali).

Position requirements


Valid Driver's License and/or access to transportation. Current police record check (vulnerable sector). Ability to work evenings and weekends.



WORKING CONDITIONS




These are the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach, climb, bend, kneel and occasionally lift equipment. Vision requirements include the ability to focus on a computer screen for extended periods.
