Nokia is seeking a highly motivated Consulting Engineer to join our team! This exciting role offers the opportunity to leverage your expertise in IP routing (including MPLS/Segment Routing and IP/Ethernet services) to support our customers and sales teams. You will be instrumental in driving technical acceptance of Nokia solutions within wide-area networks and data centers. Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Sales (Sales executives, Sales managers and Sales engineers) to properly position IP products within the account and work with sales teams towards identifying and driving business to closure.
  • Developing a technical sales strategy based on Nokia best practices and product differentiators including creation of technical material, such as white papers and PowerPoint presentations to influence customers that our product and delivery capabilities are their best option for success;
  • Candidate must be able to meet with influential customer decision makers and communicate verbally or via presentation tools the exact details of Nokia's IP product capabilities and the specific solutions being offered to customer;
  • Candidate must be able to define and document network designs and recommendations using presentation tools, like PowerPoint and design tools, like Visio;
  • Candidate must be prepared to feed accurate product development feedback into Product Line Management based on current and anticipated customer and market requirements;
  • Candidate will work closely with the Bids & Proposals team to accurately influence pricing and incentive strategy to win customer business;
  • Customer must conduct sales effort with maximum integrity, ensuring that product capabilities are accurately represented to customer and that Nokia can deliver proposed solutions in the anticipated timeframe;
  • Candidate will work jointly with many other departments and groups within Nokia to develop interworking end-to-end solutions
  • Travel: The position does require business travel to customer locations and other events/meetings, typically within Canada but on occasion regionally (USA and Canada). It is expected that the position will require over 25% of time traveling. However, during peak times, travel may increase to cover customer requirements. Candidates should expect that travel at any time, including with little advanced notice, is a requirement of this position.
Qualifications:
You have:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science (or related technical degree and/or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a customer facing technical sales, systems engineering, consulting engineer, network architect, technical marketing engineer or similar role in an IP Routed services focused role
  • Candidate must have advanced IP/MPLS routing skills including but not limited to detailed knowledge of IP routing protocol configuration and troubleshooting, MPLS and Segment Routing, detailed understanding of Ethernet switching, Layer 2 and Layer 3 services, (e.g VPLS, VPWS, EVPN, Multicast, etc).
  • Experience with BNG, 3GPP Mobile Enhanced Packet Core, Packet Optical transport are assets
  • Experience with Nokia Routing technology (7750 SR, 7210 SAS, 7705 SAR) and third party routers (Cisco IOS-XR, Juniper Junos) are assets
  • Candidate must be able to quickly and easily master new technologies and evolving standards in various customer business disciplines.
