Consultant, Valuation Advisory

JLL is currently seeking a Consultant to join our Value and Risk Advisory (VARA) team in Vancouver, British Columbia. This high performance and dynamic team is looking to add a real estate professional, with experience, to support the growth plans within the Value and Risk Advisory division in Vancouver. Our Canadian and Vancouver VARA team is a best-in-class valuation platform, which focuses on the valuation of major, institutional grade, retail, office, industrial, multi-family, and development assets. From the inception of the local VARA division in January 2023, led by Pedro Tavares and Doug Wong, our Vancouver platform has already valued over $10B in commercial real estate assets year to date.

The Consultant will have the ability to collaborate on appraisal assignments with the rest of the team. The successful candidate will complete assignments in connection with commercial real estate valuation and consulting projects which may include analyzing highest and best use scenarios, estimation of cash flows utilizing discounted cash flow models, analyses of comparable sales and cost analyses. ARGUS proficiency is preferred, but not required for this role. Successful candidates will also display the ability to interact directly with clients. We are looking for a motivated individual who is looking to grow with an expanding team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing market data and comparable transactions
  • Determining highest and best use, estimating market rents, and concluding on credible market values
  • Conduct research and analysis of comparables
  • Financial modelling, including discounted cash flow analysis, proformas, and land residual analysis
  • Working closely as part of a team to create, edit, and/or prepare appraisal reports across all asset classes
Requirements:
  • 2-3+ years of real estate valuation or finance experience is an asset
  • ARGUS proficiency is an asset
  • Candidate Appraiser license and AACI designation is an asset
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and Excel skills
  • Advanced analytical & writing skills
  • Self-starter, independent, motivated
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Business development and client relationship management experience a strong plus, but not required
  • This role is predominately office based with some travel, approximately 10%. A clean and valid driver\'s license is required.
