About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Planning & Evaluation Manager, Mental Health and Addictions Program, the Consultant is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and critical appraisal of core MHA services, standards, and best practices to improve the continuum of prevention and treatment services for individuals living with mental illness and addictions. The Consultant works to facilitate the implementation plan associated with health services planning and contributes to quality improvement initiatives, including but not limited to developing and implementing new models of service delivery and supporting workforce development initiatives.
The Consultant provides leadership, consultation and expertise within MHA and stimulates intersectoral action, establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with external stakeholders including the Office of Addictions and Mental Health, Department of Health and Wellness, Department of Justice, and other community partners, as well as those within NS Health, including but not limited to IMIT, Health Information Services, One Person One Record, Public Health, Primary Care.
The successful candidate provides strategic support and facilitates project-related work products and deliverables that support excellence in care delivery, improvement in health outcomes and achievement of standards of care established by the NSHA, Office of Addictions and Mental Health at the Department of Health and Wellness and other relevant bodies.
The Consultant designs, organizes, facilitates, documents and reports on project related initiatives by conducting literature reviews, jurisdictional scans, utilizing logic models and frameworks, business case exercises, as well as conducts critical appraisal of evidence including information available from both internal and external sources. The Consultant also works to support initiatives that support collection of information leveraging clinical document architecture via electronic platforms.
The Consultant provides analysis and advice on issues impacting mental health and mental illness across the lifespan, as well as on reducing the harms associated with substance use and gambling on the lives of Nova Scotians. The Consultant makes recommendations to the NSHA MHAP Leadership at all levels, for operational performance improvement, continuous quality improvement as well as to advance a vision of excellence within Mental Health and Addictions.
