The opportunity

Altus Group is currently looking for a Real Estate Valuation Consultant to join our International Valuation Team, working closely with Altus Analytics. You will play a critical role in the growth of this team and gain valuable opportunities to lead processes, teams and gain exposure in International Valuation.

The Consultant will be responsible for managing the daily workflow of US portfolio valuation through interaction with colleagues, clients, subordinates and supervisors. Responsibility includes initiating the quarterly valuation process for institutional real estate funds, within the appraisal management process as well as applying real estate knowledge to estimate reasonable market supported assumptions that are in line with institutional investor guidelines and regulatory requirements.

What will you do

Build relationships with and supervise analysts on daily workflow management.

Set procedures for workflow with internal and external stakeholders.

Review third-party appraisal reports as part of the valuation management process, provide consolidated review comments on third-party valuations, comparing to the recent transactions, other appraisal reports, market conditions, and various market reports.

Model cash flows (rent rolls, operating expenses, capital expenditures, market leasing assumptions) in ARGUS Enterprise for quarterly internal valuation updates.

Prepare internal valuation reports which includes gathering sale and lease comp data to support concluded DCF values.

Coach. You will audit and support the work of junior team members, offering guidance on data gathering, sharing constructive feedback on data quality, and acting as a point of escalation.

Our new Real Estate Valuation Consultant will have:

The education and experience. You have a degree in Commerce, Economics, or a related field. You have 3-5 years of progressive experience in advisory services and valuation consulting. Experience in institutional property valuation and portfolio valuation is an asset.

The technical skills. You have excellent financial modeling skills in ARGUS and Excel. You can learn new tools and teach others how to use the latest technology.

MAI and/or AACI designation(s) or are actively pursuing them.

The analytical skills. You have strengths in research and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.

The consulting skills. Your presentation and communication skills are outstanding, and you can build relationships, gaining the trust of your clients.

You are a team player who can function autonomously

The drive. You can take the initiative and be resourceful, operating with a high degree of integrity, honesty, and ethics. You are available to work flexible hours.
