Position Summary

Reporting to the AVP, Reconciliation and Inclusion and in partnership with AVP students, the Consultant, Inclusion and AODA acts as the subject matter expert on AODA. The incumbent creates AODA plans, develops, manages and implements Seneca\xe2\x80\x99s accessibility strategy, while setting the direction for, and leading all college-wide accessibility compliance, plans and policies. They will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of programs to build an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment. In addition, they will lead a diverse team of Seneca students, employees and other stakeholders to execute and communicate a strategic vision, plan and implementation for accessibility initiatives.

Responsibilities

Accessibility Strategy, Policies and Reporting

  • Plans, develops, manages and implements the Seneca accessibility strategy, while setting the direction for, and leading all college-wide accessibility compliance, plans and policies.
  • Ensures the timely and accurate documentation of Accessibility Policies, AODA Multi-year Plan, AODA Annual Report and semi-annual AODA compliance reporting.
  • Supports Seneca\xe2\x80\x99s AODA compliance responsibilities through high quality data compilation, analysis, report preparation.
  • Provides recommendations on accessibility and AODA issues, ensures Seneca is in compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Responds to inquiries from all members of the Seneca community who seek feedback and resolution to accessibility issues and challenges.
AODA Committee and Manages Budget
  • Chairs the AODA Committee
  • Develops the Terms and References for AODA Committee governance.
  • Selects committee membership ensuring fair representation of all Seneca community members.
  • Oversees and manages the central AODA Capital budget.
Training, Workshops & Events Coordination
  • Oversees the design and development of all AODA and accessibility training for employees and other service providers at Seneca.
  • Leads the promotion and communication of training, events, presentations and celebrations.
  • Supports the successful execution of these events via the document creation of event materials (flyers, agendas, etc.), managing attendance lists/name tags, signage, material assembly, printing of resource materials, AV equipment booking and other associated logistics.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications

What You Bring to Seneca
  • A completed Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or diploma in Human Resources, EDI, Human Rights, Communications, Technical Writing or another related academic program.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in the field of Accessibility, Human Resources, Accommodation, or Accessible Learning Services
  • The ability to communicate to and partner work with all levels at Seneca (oral, written, social media/web, in-person/virtual)
  • Strong understanding/working knowledge and overall interest in all areas of accessibility and universal design.
  • Fluency in accessibility issues and legislation related to accessibility and AODA.
  • Ability to research, analyze statistical data and prepare reports.
