The DOM consists of approximately 430 faculty members working across 11 Divisions/Sections and a variety of clinical programs servicing a population of 2.4 million across Southern Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Through the influence and support of quality & process improvement initiatives, this role provides leadership and expert advice with a direct impact on patient outcomes, strengthening our clinical programs and the health system overall. The Consultant will also support the DOM's vision and mission in achieving and spreading the tenets of QI through research, education and administrative duties. This will include developing and maintaining strong working relationships with AHS leadership, physicians, allied health, and administrative staff while working with the Health Analytics & Quality Working Group (HAQ). The consultant, specifically, will work in a dyad relationship with a physician leader and will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing quality & process improvement initiatives prioritized by the HAQ for the DOM's 11 clinical divisions/sections as well as supporting the needs of the DOM's education and research programs. This consultant will be skilled at leading groups and collaborating with colleagues to achieve results when they share no formal reporting relationship. Project teams can include clinical leaders, ConnectCare superusers, administrative managers, directors, and physicians in the planning, measurement, reporting and improvement process. Understanding how data informs improvement are key to success in this role. The successful candidate will have well-developed problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills. They will be adept at group facilitation, capable in both in-person and virtual meeting formats. They will have experience using survey and data analytics tools, and have demonstrated understanding of fundamental statistical concepts (i.e. variability, significance, sample distribution). They will be expected to conduct process analysis mapping, root cause analysis, and lead rapid cycle improvement and change management initiatives.
