Job Description

At EY, you’ll have the chance to build a career as unique as you are, with the global scale, support, inclusive culture and technology to become the best version of you. And we’re counting on your unique voice and perspective to help EY become even better, too. Join us and build an exceptional experience for yourself, and a better working world for all.
In today’s fast-changing world, our clients’ needs are increasingly complex and the services we offer are evolving rapidly to meet them. Our internal finance function is continually evolving as well. Our global finance mission is to provide complete, accurate, consistent, timely and insightful financial and operational information/advice that helps build a better working world and achieve our strategic ambitions. Finance provides a wide range of services. Our Markets Finance team proactively supports our client servers on complex account decisions, annual planning, financial performance management through the year, engagement margin improvement and investment decisions.
The opportunity

As a Consultant - Financial Margin Advisor (know internally as a Portfolio Finance Advisor - Supervising Associate), you’ll work in our Core Business Services (CBS) division, as a financial professional, to support our client serving (CS) team on the financial management of their accounts. You’ll be focused on improving financial performance at the forefront of finance and business policies, tools and best practices to effectively support client serving (CS). As a valued member of the Finance team you’ll have the opportunity to ensure high standards of financial management are achieved, by acting as a trusted business advisor to your assigned portfolio of Partners.
Your key responsibilities

In this Consultant - Financial Margin Advisor role, you’ll be aligned to a service line (SL) and provide advice tailored to meet the needs of Partners and their CS teams aimed at optimizing margin at a pursuit, engagement or portfolio level where these are complex in nature and material. There are two components to the role: providing on-demand financial advisory support to the client serving teams as a result of complex queries that have escalated up from the Mercury Business Advisor organization; and from collaborative, proactive, oversight by Partner outreaches in regard to the financial performance of their portfolios. You’ll also participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives.
You’ll be expected to work independently and virtually as part of the wider PFA team, using tools and technology to stay connected and be accountable for upskilling your knowledge.
Skills and attributes for success

  • Demonstrate and leverage strong financial and consulting skills, and business acumen to proactively provide financial advice
  • High degree of personal ownership and accountability with the ability to prioritize workload and deliver credible outputs within strict deadlines, with minimal supervision
  • Highly effective at virtual teaming and open to coaching by more experienced team members
  • Keen to participate in additional projects to further develop knowledge and enhance advice
  • Professional approach, demonstrating tact and diplomacy
  • Excellent questioning, commercial and listening skills; requiring minimal input in order to deliver concise, insightful and credible financial guidance and advice
  • Effective communication and presentation skills

To qualify for the role you must have
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Approximately 5 – 7 + years of experience in a client-driven professional environment in a financial capacity
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of study (finance, accounting) or equivalent years of finance or accounting experience

Ideally you will also have:
  • Professional services experience in a similar role
