Job Description

Reporting to the site supervisor, our steel framer will ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and company policies. They will follow project specifications and timelines, working efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines. Effective communication with supervisors and team members is essential to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials such as wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and structural steel components.
  • Construct, erect, install, maintain, and repair structures including foundations, walls, roofs, columns, suspended slabs, and steel framing systems.
  • Perform structural steel framing, including steel wall framing, steel channel installation, and steel drop ceiling systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications, calculate material requirements, and execute layouts.
  • Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes using laser levels and measuring tools.
  • Fit and install trim items such as doors, stairs, molding, casing, baseboard, and hardware.
  • Use hand and power tools to cut, shape, and finish wood, steel, and other materials.
  • Work collaboratively with the crew to complete field projects safely and on time.
  • Support the growth and development of company culture and professionally represent Northland Properties.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a steel framer
  • Red Seal an asset.
  • Knowledge of federal/provincial building codes.
  • Familiarity with laser levels, blueprint layouts, and power tools.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and/or work on feet for 10-12 hours per day in outdoor or unregulated temperature environments.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and use proper lifting techniques for heavier items (25+ kg).
  • Ability to climb scaffolding and work at heights.
