We are seeking an experienced Construction Site Superintendent to grow with us.
This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the construction site on an assigned project, executing field operations safely and in a manner consistent with Company objectives. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead, direct and coordinate the work of subcontractors and labourers.
Provide safety leadership through implementation of MJD Safety Program and monitoring of safety performance of field staff and subcontractors.
Provide people leadership through establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with field staff and subcontractors in order to promote positive morale.
Supervision and development of site team members through regular feedback, training, and coaching; timely completion of performance evaluations.
Contribute to the development and refinement of the project schedule.
Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions and change notices to ensure scopes, terms and conditions are properly executed.
Identify and advise of design deficiencies, schedule interruptions or difficulties, and other project issues; works collaboratively with Project Manager and Project Coordinator to resolve issues.
Monitor and evaluate subcontractor performance with regards to safety and scope of work.
Ensure safety and quality of subcontractor workmanship and building material.
Ensure sufficient manpower is provided to achieve safety, schedule and quality objectives.
Maintain daily paperwork including field reports, safety inspections, schedule updates, etc.
Site superintendent is fully responsible for all site activities and coordination of work amongst trades and different disciplines.
Hold weekly or bi-weekly site meetings with the trades, issue the minutes, and distribute the minutes to all participants.
Maintain timesheets on daily basis for carpenters and labourers employed by MJD.
Report Immediately any incidents and near misses, minor or major at site or other places to Project Manager, Project Coordinator and HSE Manager.
Daily Site Superintendent Report (DSR) to be documented in eCompliance health and safety management system.
Communicate and collaborate with HSE Manager and JHSC/H&S representative.
Attend company meetings/call and training sessions.
Never perform tasks or duties without wearing appropriate PPE.
Project documentation and filing in MJD data base application as per project document control requirements.
Forecast progress percentage monthly for the purpose of application for payment.
Assist Project Coordinator in obtaining all project submittals.
Participate, follow, and support the COR program at MJD.
Responsible for waste management program as directed by the project manager.
Responsible to issue, coordinate, log, and distribute RFIs as directed by the project manager.
Produce, coordinate, update, and distribute bi-weekly lookahead schedule.
Review Subcontractor submissions for conformance with the Contract Documents prior to sending for technical review by the Designer.
Review submissions after review by the Designer, for conformance with the Contract Documents prior to sending back to the Contractor.
Produce and update detailed contract schedule with the assistance of the project manager.
Provide advanced notice of backcharges or set offs to the sub-contractors and suppliers prior to executing the work. Coordinate all backcharges and set offs with the project manager.
All extras and claims requested from the sub-contractors or required from the sub-contractors to be coordinated and authorized by the project manager. No work orders, claim for extras, T&M sheets to be signed by the site superintendent.
All equipment rentals, material, and tool purchases to be discussed and authorized by the assigned project manager.
Qualifications
Minimum University or Community College Graduate in a relevant engineering or architectural technology discipline; OR
Possessor of a certificate of qualification in a skilled construction trade; OR
Completed a two (2) year community college program combined with a minimum of five (5) years' work experience in construction; OR
Completed a one (1) year community college program combined with a minimum of ten (10) years' work experience in construction; OR
Attained a minimum of fifteen (15) years' work experience in construction.
Training at minimum:
Possessor of a valid WSIB JHSC Certification Part 1 Basic, Part 2 Hazard Specific.
Valid Standard First Aid/CPR/AED

Accessible Customer Service Training
Possessor of a certificate of qualification in a skilled construction trade; OR
Completed a two (2) year community college program combined with a minimum of five (5) years' work experience in construction; OR
Completed a one (1) year community college program combined with a minimum of ten (10) years' work experience in construction; OR
Attained a minimum of fifteen (15) years' work experience in construction.

Pay: $90,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
