Senior Estimator Shape Construction, Canmore/Calgary About Shape Construction Shape Construction is under the Basecamp Properties umbrella. Basecamp Properties is a rapidly growing boutique chain of hotels based in Canmore & Banff, Alberta and Revelstoke & Golden, British Columbia. We are continuously expanding to better serve the resort communities of the Rocky Mountains. Shape Construction works side by side with our development company "Big Moose Realty LTD" building multi-family homes, town-homes, condos and commercial bays. Shape Construction has many projects on the go and upcoming in many Alberta and BC locations with many opportunities for growth! Position Overview We require a full-time permanent Senior Estimate to help with our development company to set and manage budgets, estimate projects costs and feasibility. Salary: depends on experience Full-time/Permanent Can work from Calgary but will need to be able to attend meetings in Canmore. Key Responsibilities Estimating: - Determining the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labor for construction projects.
- Researching construction documents and analyzing specifications.
- Preparing estimates for planning, organizing, and scheduling project work.
- Formulating contingency plans and effectively managing risks that might impact cost and time estimates.
- Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment, and subcontracts for construction projects.
- Advise on tendering procedure, examine, and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards, and conduct negotiations.
- Establish and maintain tendering processes.
- Set up cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project.
- Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineer, architects, owner, contractor, and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Manage and co-ordinate construction projects and prepare construction progress schedule.
- Analyze company data, monitor budgets and prices. Managing: - Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project.
- Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements.
- Prepare all budgets for each construction and development projects. Draft and submit budget based on scope of work and resource requirements.
- Manage costs in order to meet budgets.
- Prepare all projects to be in financial order and present to executive management.
- Be part of all consulting and construction meetings. Skills and Experience - Minimum 5 years of senior experience in the managing/estimating construction field.
- Extensive experience in preparing estimates of labour and material costs.
- Extensive experience in preparing budgets for multiple projects.
- Exceptional time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills. Requirements - Minimum 7 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in estimating and managing in the construction field.
- Bachelor\'s degree in civil or architectural engineering, construction management, or an equivalent degree.
- Outstanding mathematics and IT abilities.
- Proficient in relevant software including MS Office Suite.
- Excellent Presentation and communication skills.
