About the Role



Axiom Builders is actively seeking a a number of dedicated and experienced Construction Safety Officer (CSO) to oversee and enhance safety protocols across our construction sites. The CSO will proactively address any safety concerns that arise and adeptly implement solutions that align with Axiom's steadfast commitment to safety.

We are actively hiring CSOs for our sites in Vancouver, Burnaby and Coquitlam.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and enhance safety by tracking issues, maintaining records of incidents, and suggesting improvements; Conduct orientations, training, and safety coordination for workers and subcontractors; Perform safety inspections, hazard assessments, and provide guidance on tool and equipment usage; Lead emergency response, manage First Aid resources, investigate incidents, and collaborate on safety record management.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate for the Construction Safety Officer role is someone who leads by example and possesses a strong work ethic. You should also demonstrate the ability to adapt on the go and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

Skills and Experience

Five or more (5+) years related experience in a safety position acquired in a construction setting (residential, commercial, institutional, or industrial settings); Compulsory Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 3 (with transport endorsement); National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is preferred; Additional training in safety an asset including but not limited to, WHMIS, CSTS, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform etc.; Thorough knowledge of all applicable Provincial legislation regarding Occupational Health and Safety; Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. Must be able to coach, facilitate and influence a cultural and behavioral change in the workplace regarding safety; Post-secondary Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety an asset.
