As a Construction Safety Manager, you will be responsible for providing parttime leadership and oversight of Companion Construction's safety program across active project sites. This role ensures compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations, promotes a proactive safety culture, and supports project teams with practical, field-ready guidance. The position includes responsibility for maintaining accurate, timely safety documentation through SiteDocs, the company's digital safety management platform.
Successful candidates will be able to self-start and work independently. Taking ownership of your work and projects is important. Relevant experience in commercial construction and tenant improvements an asset. This job is a part-time hybrid position, consisting of onsite visits and remote documentation/meetings. Open to contract or employed applicants.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Site Safety Oversight (On-Site, Weekly or As Needed)
Conduct regular site inspections and document findings directly in SiteDocs.
Support site supervisors in implementing corrective actions and maintaining safe work practices.
Lead or participate in toolbox talks, safety orientations, and on?site coaching.
Monitor subcontractor compliance with Companion Construction's safety expectations and WorkSafeBC requirements.
Safety Program Management (Remote + On-Site)
Maintain and update the company's Health & Safety Program, including policies, procedures, and documentation within SiteDocs.
Review and approve site-specific safety plans, risk assessments, and safe work procedures.
Track and report safety metrics, incidents, near misses, and corrective actions using SiteDocs workflows.
Coordinate incident investigations and ensure timely reporting and follow?up through the platform.
Training & Compliance
Provide guidance on regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Support training initiatives, including orientations, certifications, and refresher sessions, ensuring all records are uploaded to SiteDocs.
Ensure all safety documentation is organized, current, and audit-ready within the system
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PROFILE
Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience, preferably in commercial or institutional environments.
Valid safety certifications (e.g., NCSO, CSO, CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and construction industry standards.
Experience using SiteDocs or similar digital safety management platforms.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, coaching-oriented approach.
Ability to work independently and manage a flexible, part?time schedule.
