Taurus Contracting

is looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee projects for various clients, including but not limited to ICI landlords, tenants, property managers, City of Toronto, and various commercial end users. Most of our contracts are stipulated lump sum or design/build. The majority of projects are renovation/new construction or interior fit outs with some complete ground-up buildings. Taurus Contracting is an independent, thriving, commercial general contracting company, operating for 40 years from Scarborough, Ontario.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to project management and estimating responsibilities, candidate must be able to adapt and be comfortable with other roles assisting the owner as required especially with tendering and RFP's. Read and understand ICI construction drawings/specifications in an architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural and site services capacity. Interpret a scope of work and effectively communicate/discuss the scope with required sub-trades, office staff, and consultants. Work with the client from the start of each project to ensure understanding of project scope/vision, see the project through to closeout. Collaborate with office staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to maintain cohesive schedule. Create project schedules, conduct site meetings, understand profit/loss, coordinate submittals and obtain all necessary closeouts. Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants and effectively communicate these negotiations with office staff as necessary. Create and Provide Accurate Documentation (Incl. Deficiency reports, project start up binders, Project close out binders, Etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 5+ years' experience Working for a general contractor(various roles) with ICI sector construction projects. Proficient knowledge of construction methods, systems & materials. Keeps current on changing technology/methods and industry practices through continuous learning. Ability to understand and interpret contract documents, Shop drawings, and Specifications. Familiar with all health and safety policies and their implementation in the field. Thorough understanding of construction terminology/vernacular and the Master Format and its Divisions. Excellent command of the English language; verbal and written. Live in the GTA (Toronto), have a cell phone, and reliable transportation.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project). Team Management and Leadership Skills. Communication and Risk Management Skills. Ability to Work in Fast Paced Environment. Prioritizing and Time Management Skills. Organized and systematic with good attention to detail. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Report directly to the President and/or Office Manager. Small Team environment focusing more on production rather than procedure, structure, and policy (non-institutional, fun, and creative). Autonomy and independence. Administrative/office support available as required.
The ideal candidate is an independent worker with the capacity to multi-task and wear various hats as needed. The Project Manager's job is to oversee each project from conception to the finish, interfacing with construction professionals, office staff and the Client.

Job Type: Full-time/part-time contract.
