The Construction Manager will be part of the Delivery Partner integrated project team responsible for the coordination of activities relating to construction, contracts management, and engineering including liaison with the engineering group for specified packages of work for the Ontario Line Subway Project.in this full-time permanent role and be a champion ofDuties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with engineering on constructability and design issues. Assists in establishing a Design/Field Engineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Project Engineer including agreement on engineering deliverables. Responsible for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.
  • Ensure that safety and creation as well as maintenance of a safe workplace and environment is the primary consideration and first priority in the delivery of all work. Actively participates in the Project's safety leadership culture through field hazard inspections, engagement with the workforce, deployment of safety initiatives and review of contractor's means and methods.
  • Coordinates the requirement/ design of temporary construction facilities where required.
  • Monitor the technical requirements of the work, including quality control/assurance, and the implementation of the Contractor's quality program(s).
  • Coordinates the preparation of cost reports, forecast and progress reports. Reviews and provides input to project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule. Provides input to periodic reporting.
  • Leads quantity and progress verification, and monthly invoice reviews.
  • Leads the Contract administration and management efforts, in collaboration with the Contract Administrator.
  • Supports the Contract Administrator by reviewing change notice proposals to establish cost and impact on the total contract value, budget, issuing of recommendation letters, management of trend registers and overall project forecast.
  • Performs employee reviews for subordinate personnel and assists in their development. Ensures that subordinate personnel receive progressive training.
  • Ensures the implementation of project Health and Safety and environmental control plan(s) as required.
  • Ensures Contractor technical submittals are submitted, reviewed, and approved within the applicable contractual timelines. Coordinate other Functional Depts for review and maintaining compliance of contract requirements.
  • Review and approve the contractor's schedule confirming it shows the logical sequence, construction methods and estimated duration of activities required to meet the milestone and completion dates. Monitor progress in the field and coordinate with Project Controls to ensure the subcontractor's schedule and progress support the project construction schedule.
  • Coordinate interfaces between early works contractor(s) and other interfacing projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, or 21 years relevant experience in the absence of a degree
  • Successful Construction Management track record on a major multidisciplinary project
  • Experience with construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.
  • Experience with subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
  • Prior experience supervising and administering contractors.
  • Demonstrated technical writing, data management, verbal communication, presentation, and teaching skills.
  • Experience working with teams and stakeholders in the development and delivery of large infrastructure projects. Ability to communicate across technical disciplines (engineering, construction, operations, maintenance).
  • Experience working in the rail industry and/or large-scale infrastructure, underground work experience.
  • Successful Field Engineering track record on a major multidisciplinary rail project
  • Demonstrated technical writing, data management, verbal communication, presentation, and teaching skills.
  • A firm understanding of rail engineering procedures, principles, and concepts.
  • Experience working with teams and stakeholders in the development and delivery of large infrastructure projects. Ability to communicate across technical disciplines (engineering, construction, operations, maintenance).
  • Knowledgeable in planning and executing high value, multi-faceted lump-sum turnkey civil infrastructure projects.
  • Computer skills (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H).
  • Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program
