Summary

The First Canadian Construction Corp. (FCC) is looking for the Construction Manager, primarily located in Oromocto, NB. The incumbent will report to the General Manager of the Project Company in Fredericton in a joint venture. There will be matrixed reporting to the VP, Operations Director of FCC Canada Ltd and the CFO FCC of North America.

As a Construction Manager, You Will;

  • Responsible for the routine, periodic and rehabilitation work for the summer operations as it pertains to the OMM Agreement and to work with the General/Facility Manager on associated budgets
  • Meet with and discuss the rehabilitation plans with the Technical Review Committee
  • Provide technical support/direction to all OMM and rehabilitation work and manage the procurement of work for periodic and rehab work
  • Prepare site logistics plans, construction management plans, trade package strategies, early works plans, and sequencing options
  • Review internal and external non-conformances
  • Review and assess in the required action necessary for both change request and change orders
  • Lead and manage pre-construction phase using design-build, construction management, or stipulated price methodologies
  • Actively support and participate in cost estimating activities, assist with construction budgets for projects and provide input on Value Engineering
  • Coordinate resolution of constructability issues during design and lead design and construction document reviews
  • Responsible for the administering, supervising, and managing of the Area Managers, Fleet Manager, Engineering/Technical and Maintenance staff, and external contracts
  • Manage, evaluate, and review potential risk factors with management and the client
  • Visit site to review options for renovation projects and assist with preparation of feasibility studies
What You Will Bring?
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • PMP and P.Eng. qualifications will be given preference
  • 10+ years professional experience working as a Construction Manager on large, infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated familiarity with local Building Code, Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety regulations, as well as regulatory permit requirements for the construction industry
  • Knowledge of government regulations, specifications and standards regarding the construction industry
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook; in addition to Google communication tools like Gmail and Google Docs
  • Knowledge of project management tools like Microsoft Project /Gantt chart planning tools
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
