Construction Manager
Our client is searching for a Construction Manager to join their team. This role will be responsible for successfully delivering wireline design and building projects. A successful candidate will provide leadership to strategically manage risk, monitor project health, and ensure each phase of work is started and completed on time.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:

• Understand construction methods to place telecommunication services, locating, and various fiber optic cable placement services
• Conduct and assist in internal audits to determine compliance with procedures, controls, and applicable laws or regulations
• Review payroll hours and cost management
• Business case analysis and job verification
• Performance management tracking
• Job support, including customer and public interaction
• Read and understand construction prints
• Understand utility locations and ensure public and network safety
• Have extensive knowledge of equipment operation, including directional drills, drilling locating systems, backhoes, excavators, trenchers, fiber plows, pull cats and fiber blowing and pulling operations
• Be deeply familiar with telecommunications OSP and ISP facilities
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems
• Monitor build progress, oversee finance, and ensure project quality
• Escalate issues to the Manager of Operations promptly
• Make strategic decisions and provide leadership and direction to the project teams
• Meet with clients, stakeholders, and project managers to report on project progress regularly
• Build strong working relationships while ensuring client satisfaction
• Develop cost-effective plans to enable practical project completion, including project close-outs
• Manage risks to avoid delays or reputational damage
• Ensure permits and all construction work packages are secured before project execution
• Coach and mentor project teams through project performance, performance reviews, one-on-one meetings, and constructive feedback
• Understand and implement the companys health and safety guidelines, including participating in audits, developing crisis management plans, etc.
• Be a safety leader and champion by rolling out new safety processes and tools and setting a great example of a positive safety culture
• Ensure and promote a safe working environment for all employees

Your strengths include:

• Technical Diploma or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of relevant telecommunications wireline construction experience
• Must have a solid understanding of the nuances of telecom OSP/ISP builds an in-depth knowledge of what it takes to build or upgrade a wireline network
• Ability to participate in the planning and overall management of a project schedule
• Understand construction documents and ensure they are complete; protect the owners and companys interests; clearly define expectations; and provide incentives to perform
• Knowledge of construction project costs and budgets
• Ability to build a strong team-oriented and HSE conscious culture at work
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
