What You\xe2\x80\x99ll be Doing

  • Create and maintain a culture of Safety First leading by example and holding team members and site partners accountable
  • Conduct site and safety inspections, attend progress meetings, review incidents, near misses, HSE reports, and statistics, and implement continuous improvements to ensure that project safety standards, legislation, and environmental programs are followed
  • Oversee projects to ensure completion is as per design, budget, and schedule
  • Lead preconstruction process and contribute to estimate, proposal, and/or presentations
  • Oversee the implementation of quality management plan and quality culture with stakeholder buy-in
  • Monitor project performance status reports for schedule, costs, equipment, people resources, materials, safety and environment, cost forecast and quality control
  • Monitor production and review work of trade partners and subcontractors to ensure project time, cost, and quality objectives are met
  • Review bid specifications and budget compliance
  • Oversee, review, or performs weekly or monthly detailed project cost review: Labor Cost Reports, Project Cost and Forecast reports
  • Foster a culture that promotes identifying potential project constraints and problem solving
  • Oversee and verifies progress preparation payments to subcontractors and trade contractors
  • Ensure that teams are adhering to standard work and processes
  • Review and continuously improve project procedures and operating guidelines
  • Oversee change management process and manage any large changes or disputes
  • Oversee overall project closeout, including document archival, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies, and warranty work. Conduct post-mortem analysis on each project
  • Stay current with industry practices; identify new, innovative construction methods and initiatives
  • Act as main point of contact for any labour relations and market implications
  • Ensures all owner, partner, and project policies, procedures, and standards are followed
  • Oversee and lead the entire project team consisting of direct and indirect reports (Project Manager, Assistant Project Managers, Coordinators, Superintendents, Project Engineers, student interns)
  • Provide mentorship and coaching with a focus on career development and performance management for all project team members
  • Collaborate with HR to delegate and oversee tasks related to training and onboarding new employees and assist in the recruitment of new team members to the project team

What You Bring

  • Post secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management or similar discipline
  • Gold Seal certification
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in construction with 3-5 years experience as a Construction Manager
  • Proven success in leading mid- and high-rise residential projects or complex ICI projects
  • Proven success in creating and maintain a strong culture of safety
  • In-depth knowledge of construction industry and project operations, including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, and safety and quality management practices for large complex projects
  • Ability to identify opportunities and mitigate potential risks on high rise projects
  • Ability to monitor and forecast project resources and staffing. Experience working with Operations and HR to assemble a high performing project team
  • Ability to monitor complex project budgets and schedules and to review and validate project schedules
  • Expert knowledge of and ability to apply project construction laws and building codes
  • Experience with and ability to implement and manage a complex project document control process
  • Ability to generate, review, and administer complex subcontracts and purchase orders, ensuring that all risks are mitigated and opportunities are identified
  • Thorough understanding of insurance, bonding, and legal requirements
  • Superior planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize team tasks for prompt execution
  • Superior relationship management with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers, leading to negotiated or repeat work
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Expert knowledge of collective agreements and jurisdiction assignment for multi- trade sites
  • Demonstrates strategic acumen for business priorities
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing others and many construction project facets, including multiple scope coordination. Experience leading and assessing trade performance
