Construction Management Representative

Job Description

Maderra Personnel is currently seeking a qualified individual for the position of Construction Management Representative at the Hinds Lake Generating Plant.
Located in St. John's, Newfoundland, Maderra Engineering Inc. provides project management, project services, engineering, technical and personnel services to the Energy, Resource, and Commercial sectors. Responsibilities:

  • Daily communication with Project Manager (PM) and/or Project Engineer (PE) as a minimum to provide updates on progression of work.
  • Complete and submit Daily Reports to Project Management. These reports will outline items such as number of staff on site, work completed, notable occurrences, safety concerns, etc.
  • Communication with Bay d'Espoir Supervisor for Unit Overhaul and data acquisition upgrade work ensuring work zones are established, and coordination of activities that does not impact other work being completed on the unit.
  • Monitor and work with Contractor to ensure all work is completed in a safe manner and in compliance with applicable safety and environmental regulations, bylaws and project safe work processes. Also monitor Contractor work to ensure work is being performed in general accordance with design drawings, specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Verify that Contractor staff has appropriate safety certifications for work they are performing, such as Fall Arrest, Confined Space Training, and Lead/Asbestos abatement.
  • Participate in Contractor daily Tool Box meetings.
  • Ensure smooth communication between contractor day and night shift supervisors.
  • Provide site orientations to Contractors staff. These orientations are required for all workers upon mobilization to site, and any workers who have not worked at the facility within the past year.
  • Coordinate construction activities with other BDE site work to ensure no new hazards are introduced at the work sites.
  • Oversee execution of the work and ensure scope is adhered to; personnel with previous knowledge of hydro generator stator winding systems, cable tray routing, navigate the drawing systems, equipment/JB locations would be beneficial.
  • Communicate with PE to ensure redline drawings for as-building and changes in the field are completed by contractor as required. Sign-off check sheets as work is being executed.
  • Ensure all material and tools are available to execute the work and notify PM as necessary.
  • Ensure contractor lead paint and/or asbestos abatement procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous materials is being followed.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar role is required.
  • Experience with permitting system and Work Protection system.
  • Familiarity with Contractor's and company Emergency Response Plans.
