What You Get to Do:

Under general supervision, employees perform various duties within their area of assigned responsibility.

  • Provide leadership and ensure adherence to Health & Safety principles, practices, work methods and standards
  • Determine resource needs, material readiness, permit identification, equipment, outage planning, locate requests, etc. and have prepared for field prior to execution.
  • Participate in project planning site visits, team meetings, route/site selection, and collaborate on potential landowner / indigenous relations concerns.
  • Monitor and ensure completion of work in accordance with engineering specifications, survey drawings, standards, policies, practices, release packages, 3rd party agreements and terms of contracts.
  • Liaise on design, site issues and scope of work. Ensure completion and submission of construction closeouts and project turnover packages.
  • Test and inspect facilities.
  • Participate in the development and review of annual contracts and project tenders.
  • Manage contractors, including the review and approval of contractor invoices, LEM's, contractor PCRs, change requests, quality control, etc.
  • Provide updates on status, budgets, forecasts, operations and constructability.
  • Other duties of a similar nature.
Qualifications:
  • Valid and appropriate vehicle operator's license (minimum Class 5, issued in Alberta).
  • Valid First Aid Certification with CPR certification.
  • 5-7 years Transmission Line Construction experience including at both 144 and 240 kV, monopole and lattice tower assembly and erection, foundation installation (caisson, bucket piles, driven piles, screw piles), critical lifts, bundled conductor tension stringing, OPGW and helicopter stringing experience.
  • Incident investigation experience.
  • Contractor and contract management and administration experience, including an understanding of contract terms and conditions and the ability to manage to the term and conditions of the contract.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Project Management training and experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology programs to complete job requirements such as Maximo, APS, NetWorks, For Site, Mobile TC, Crow, Power BI
  • Must be able to understand & interpret engineering and other construction drawings.
  • Must be able to understand contract terms and conditions and the ability to manage to the terms and conditions of the contract.
  • A solid knowledge of Microsoft Office PC applications.
  • Proven level of knowledge and skills in ATCO Electric's construction work methods and standards, Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and coordinate several major activities at once.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish excellent working relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to document and organize project communications.
  • Superior analytical, problem solving, audit and investigation skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation - Safety Codes (AEUC), OHS, Environmental, AESO and all applicable Canadian and Alberta electrical and building codes.
  • Travel and work away from home base may be required.
