Job Description

Telecon is looking for an energetic and motivated individual to join our growing Civil Team! This is a field position/on the road.
Working under the supervision of the Foreman, the Labourer will assist the Civil Team with the installation of telecommunications infrastructure (buried cable, wire, or ducts) for various projects.
The work will primarily be in and around the Edmonton Region. There could be a requirement to travel 15-20% of the time (within 3 hours or so of Edmonton) as needed.
YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO :

• Able to diagnose and locate cable faults and replace or repair Telecommunications cables
• Digging holes and trenches, as well as support the excavation crew
• Placing fibre and grade level boxes
• Able to complete landscaping restoration work
• Able to frequently use tools such as shovels
• Aid with general site preparation and clean-up as directed
• Safely loading and unloading vehicles with supplies and equipment as directed
• Able to run gas and power equipment (i.e., saws, drills, jumping jacks)
• Assist with the removal of debris from work sites
• Assist with traffic control as directed
• Able to assess work environment for potential health and safety hazards
• Ability to solve problems and perform well under pressure and time constraints
• Other duties as required

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

• Civil Construction (Shallow Utilities) or Landscaping industry experience is an asset
• Civil, Electric/Electronics or any other related field is an asset
• Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's License and a good driver's abstract
• Experience with towing trailers is an asset
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Must be available to work additional hours (overtime) on occasion when required
• Must be proficient in internet and email usage, and able to learn new software quickly
• Good verbal command of the English Language and great communication skills
• Must be able to safely lift 80 lbs.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Well-groomed and maintain continued professional appearance and demeanor.
• Must maintain prompt and consistent attendance to include arrival times for work on job assignments.
• Must be willing to complete an online criminal record check to the company's satisfaction
