Job Description

SUMMARY

:
Perform tasks as outlined by Supervisor, sweeping, shoveling, and digging by hand, operating small hand and power tools, assisting trades, load and unload construction materials, heavy lifting, backfill and compact subgrade, maintain good housekeeping, adhere to safety policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These tasks are strictly an outline of essential duties & responsibilities; any other duties may also be assigned when required.



1. Perform manual labour as directed by supervisor including:

Load and unload vehicles with supplies, equipment, and construction materials. Move tools, equipment, and construction materials to and from work areas. Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes. Curb/ sidewalk prep. Cutting asphalt and concrete with power tools Tend pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment. Pipelaying - (watermain, sanitary, storm) Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials. Tight blading / final grading prep. Raking and grading experience in dirt and aggregate materials. Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. Assist in the control of traffic passing near, in and around work zones. Assist other workers (i.e. pipelayers, grademen etc) as directed by supervisor
2. Communicate with Supervisor on any material, supplies and equipment requests or requirements.

3. Attend and participate in "Toolbox Meetings" and other safety meetings.

4. Adhere to and practice all worksite and company safety policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:



Minimum 6 months experience working in construction atmosphere Knowledge in construction safety and protocol Basic knowledge in government and environmental rules and regulations Working around heavy equipment Experience operating various small hand and power tools

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES / QUALIFICATIONS:



Possess valid driver's license Reliable transportation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:



Physically fit Manual Dexterity Lift up to 50lbs Work in all weather conditions Stand, crouch, stoop and balance for long periods of time

PERFORMANCE REVIEW & OTHER COMMENTS:



Three (3) month probationary period. Annual performance review
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$32.00 per hour
