The Opportunity
McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for a Construction Inspector to join our team in the Lower Mainland. In this role, you'll be a key member of our Municipal Division, helping to expand and deliver high-quality construction services to both existing and prospective clients across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.
We're looking for a self-motivated problem solver who thrives in client-facing environments and enjoys thinking on their feet. You'll play an active role in municipal construction projects ranging from roadworks, cycling and pedestrian improvements, bridges, utilities, and more!

What You'll Do
Provide on-site contractor inspection for municipal roadwork and utility projects including monitoring the quality and progress of the work being performed and preparing daily inspection reports.
Maintain inventories of bid item quantities and assist with payment authorizations
Identify field and design issues, facilitate corrective measures, and perform constructability reviews.
Ensure the team is motivated and on track, project deadlines are met within budget, and quality of work meets or exceeds client expectations.
Be forward thinking; understand the construction process and be able to learn the specifications and requirements of the work which they will be inspecting.
Understand the hazards and safe work procedures for each task and inspection location.
What You'll Bring
1-5 years of experience with municipal and transportation construction projects; consulting experience is an asset.
Previous field or construction related experience as assistant supervisor/inspector is an asset.
Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field is required.
Ability to be flexible in work schedule, especially during the busy inspection summer season.
Ability to interpret contracts, drawings, and specifications and compare them with construction in progress, detecting faulty materials and workmanship, and suggesting appropriate remedies.
Exceptional organization and follow-up skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Valid Class 5 driver's license.
What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $90,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual's education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
