Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic Estimator to join our team. This role is pivotal in the accurate and timely preparation of full-cost estimates for commercial construction projects throughout the Winnipeg Capital region. As an Estimator, you will analyze historical data and collaborate with various departments to develop comprehensive project estimates. You will work closely with the Senior Project Manager, Senior Estimator and Management to finalize estimates for executive approval and oversee the management of these estimates through project completion.



Key Responsibilities:



Analyze tender documents, including blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications.

Visualize project requirements and prepare detailed execution plans.

Prepare tender submissions, pre-construction estimates, and project schedules.

Conduct quantity take-offs, sub-trade procurement, pricing, and closing procedures.

Estimate costs for materials, labor, sub-trades, and equipment based on tender contract documents.

Develop and manage project schedules, resource plans, procurement strategies, and risk mitigation plans.

Build and maintain relationships with general contractors to identify tender opportunities.

Actively seek new business opportunities through various sources.

Conduct site visits to source potential opportunities and build client relationships.

Review take-offs for mathematical and technical accuracy.

Track and incorporate addendums into tenders.

Monitor awarded projects and costs to improve future pricing accuracy.


Experience and Skills:



Experience in heavy civil construction estimating, including earthworks, road construction, excavation/backfill, and core infrastructure.

Proven track record of bidding projects ranging from $50,000 to $10,000,000.

Minimum of 3+ years of experience in construction estimating.

Credentials such as Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), Gold Seal Certification, PMP, and LEED are considered assets.

Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify quantitative and qualitative anomalies.

Strong critical thinking, analytical, and advanced problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in reading and understanding construction drawings, purchase orders, and contracts.

Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing.

Proficiency in Microsoft programs and related computer estimating applications, including digital take-offs and scheduling software.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

Ability to multitask and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced environment.

Canadian experience is required.


Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
