Construction Estimator

BRU Developments

BRU Developments is a growing general contracting company focused on retail and commercial construction. We are looking for a skilled Construction Estimator to support our expanding project workload. This position is hybrid with a mix of remote and in office work. The successful candidate must be able to travel when required for site visits, trade meetings, and on site evaluations.

About the Role

The Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed estimates for a range of retail and commercial projects. This includes base building work, interior fit outs, renovations, and tenant improvements. You will work closely with project management, site supervisors, clients, consultants, and trades to ensure estimates are reliable and based on verified conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Review construction drawings, specifications, addendums, and tender documents Prepare complete quantity takeoffs, cost breakdowns, and budget estimates Visit project sites to assess existing conditions and collect all required information Request and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing Maintain strong communication with trades to ensure clarity on scope and pricing Create tender packages and assist with tender review and award recommendations Track pricing trends, material costs, and market conditions Provide support to project managers during construction related cost reviews Participate in value engineering and provide cost saving options when appropriate Prepare detailed written scopes of work for trades and suppliers

Qualifications

Minimum of three years experience in construction estimating Strong experience with retail and commercial construction is required Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings Strong understanding of construction sequencing and building materials Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Strong written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple estimates at once Comfortable conducting site visits and working in active construction environments Valid drivers licence and ability to travel when required

Pay: $55,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
