Position Overview:

GME Excavation Sewer & Water is seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team in Winnipeg. Reporting to the VP of Operations, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating for commercial civil engineering projects, including excavation, sewer, and water infrastructure. This role emphasizes estimating and procurement, contributing to the overall success of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cost Estimation:

Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial civil engineering projects including excavation, sewer, and water works. Perform quantity take-offs and prepare estimates from tender documents.

2. Collaboration:

Liaise with clients to ensure complete submittals and documentation. Communicate effectively with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and ensure competitive bids.

3. Bid Preparation:

Monitor bid tender sites to seek out new business opportunities. Understand and assist in preparing bid documents and proposals, ensuring clarity and completeness regarding project specifications. Present estimates for review and approval.

4. Market Analysis:

Conduct research on industry trends, material costs, and labor rates specific to sewer and water infrastructure projects. Stay informed about relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices in civil construction.

5. Project Monitoring:

Track project costs and document project cost reports to ensure adherence to estimates. Provide ongoing support with cost analysis and budget management recommendations. Review, understand and evaluate tender documents, drawings and specifications, visualize the work entailed and prepare a detailed plan to execute work in an efficient manner

Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Engineering or equivalent; GSC considered an asset. 3-5 years of "hands- on" experience in the capacity of an Estimator or similar role. This experience should include a full range of project delivery methods including tenders and construction management. Understanding of construction processes specific to Civil Engineering and Sewer & Water. Understanding of building engineering and construction cost estimating techniques. Proficient in the use of estimating software programs, Microsoft Office and B2W. A confident decision maker who analyzes complex data to make informed choices in the best interest of the organization. Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing from vendors and subcontractors.

Working Conditions:

This position may require working outdoors in various weather conditions. Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials may be necessary.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
