Position: High Rise Residential Developer Construction Estimator

Location: GTA, Ontario, Canada

My client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join their dynamic team. As a High Rise Residential Developer Construction Estimator, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in accurately assessing project costs, providing comprehensive estimates, and contributing to the overall success of high-rise residential condominium developments.

Key Responsibilities for this Estimator:

  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary project details for accurate cost estimations.
  • Analyze architectural drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to identify materials, labor, and equipment requirements.
  • Utilize specialized software and tools to create detailed cost estimates, taking into consideration various factors such as labor rates, material prices, equipment rental costs, and project timelines.
  • Research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, building codes, and regulations to ensure estimates align with current standards.
  • Prepare and present clear and concise estimates to internal stakeholders, highlighting cost breakdowns, assumptions, and potential risks.
  • Participate in value engineering discussions to identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or design integrity.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to source accurate pricing for materials, subcontractor services, and equipment rentals.
  • Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to solicit competitive bids and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Monitor project progress and update estimates as necessary, considering any changes in scope, design modifications, or unforeseen challenges.
  • Support the project management team in budget development, cost tracking, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the estimating process by identifying areas for enhancement and implementing best practices.
Qualifications and Requirements of this Estimator role:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience as a Construction Estimator, preferably within the high-rise residential condominium development sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and building codes relevant to high-rise residential projects.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software and tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately interpret project documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Negotiation skills to obtain competitive pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with the Greater Toronto Area\'s construction market and cost trends.
  • Results-oriented mindset with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
